Born in Melbourne and moving at six months old, the George Town region has long been home.
A local photographer, the journey into photography began in my 40s with a deepened interest in portraiture and landscape. The fleeting beauty of sunsets and sunrises, as well as capturing moments that evoke emotional connections, have become central to the work. Sharing these images with a wider audience through Instagram has brought much joy and appreciation.
As a member of the George Town Art and Artisans Group, it’s been fulfilling to see others appreciate the images I capture. My work has been exhibited at a local vineyard, café and the George Town Council Office, and currently, an image of the lighthouse is featured on the local George Town maps.
My family constantly support and encourage my artistic journey. While grown up and family of their own, they are my first port of call for feedback and to bounce ideas.
Exhibiting in local galleries, as well as capturing events like the Christmas Parade and
ANZAC March, offer a chance to document the community’s rich history. Collaborating with my friend Sue on an annual calendar highlighting the region has been another creative outlet, constantly fuelling our desire to bring fresh ideas to life.
Recognition has come through features in the Examiner newspaper and Tamar Valley News, while personal family photos and travel experiences are preserved in digital photo albums.
Outside of photography, there’s a love for family history, often uncovering forgotten secrets. Involvement in the George Town Garden Club inspires me to spend time tending to my veggie patch. A passion for watercolour painting, from botanical art to abstract works, continues to nurture creativity in different forms.
