I was born in Blackpool England & we moved to Box Hill, Victoria Australia 1951. My Mother was a dressmaker & she taught me to knit & how to use my small Singer sewing machine when I was 4 years old. I had my machine on a vegie box & sat on a fold up campstool making dolls clothes with Mum’s scraps.

I have always loved sewing & knitting & have always loved working with wool – I shifted to Tasmania 1992 with my husband & I helped a friend feed her lambs that had lost there mother’s & I got 2 lambs of my own, till they couldn’t come to our new home – it did take me till 1994 for me to get my 1st spinning wheel (which I still use) and the lovely & gifted Wendy Thiele’ (our minister’s wife) who taught me how to prep, fleece & spin!! The first fleece was Merino & not very long staples – but I loved it!!!

14 years ago I joined the Spinning Group at Beaconsfield & then went on to join the Hand Weavers Spinners & Dyers Guild 2010…Through which I learnt weaving & dyeing my spun wool.
